BRUSHES!

Hi guys,

One of the several golden rules of an effective and successful makeup application is having BRUSHES!Brushes of a good and very good quality! It does not matter if you use high end or high street (more affordable) makeup products, for the most parts, the brush that you apply the product with matters. It can be very stressful trying to pick out the right makeup brush since not many know what each brush is used for. There are lots of different kinds of brushes, and you don’t have to have all of them. However, there are a couple that you BETTER have in order to have a good base on your face and eyes. Moreover, you can use and alternate some brushes for multiple purposes and uses. For some, small powder brush may work as it is supposed to. However, for others, with a smaller face, it can also work as a foundation brush. As well, some highlights brushes are very useful for contouring the hollows of the cheeks with. This is very convenient and exactly what we've been doing for a long time. Here is the list of some brushes with a short explanation to help you out.

Traditional foundation brush:

A large-sized flat and firm brush. This brush is designed to achieve a smooth and flawless foundation application. When blending with flat foundation brush you will get the light blended coverage for the natural finish.

Kabuki Brush:
A kabuki brush is usually small and compact. It is usually soft and fluffy yet is dense. After applying your foundation with regular foundation brush, you can buff or blend it with a kabuki brush, to create softer and more natural looking skin. You can create a smooth, flawless look with your kabuki brush. A kabuki brush also can be used as a powder buffer or a blender.

Stippling Brush:
Stippling brushes usually have two-toned bristles: a black base with pointed white bristles at the top. The name speaks for itself. This brush is generally use to stipple on makeup. You can use it for light liquid foundations, concealer, and cream contour.

Powder Brush:
This is the most common of all brushes. It should be in every makeup bag. This brush is multifunctional. It can be used to apply any kind of powders or bronzers. Big powder brushes are good for a light touch of translucent powder or overall sun-kissed appearance.  If the powder brush is not very big, you can also use it as a blush or highlighter brush.

Eye shading brush:
Eye shading brush is the brush you are putting or pressing your shadow to your upper eyelid with. The brush is usually flat and rounded at the tip so you can press the eye shadow to the rounded shape of the lid. There are also small and square shaped eye shading brush, mostly used for drawing lines and packing colour on your upper and lower lash lines.

EyeShadow blending brush:
Eyeshadow blending brush is crucial if you want to do smokey eyes or blend different eyeshadows, so there are no harsh lines. They vary in shapes and sizes. The pointed ones are for more precise cut crease looks. Angled ones are better for the cat-eye looks. However, in my opinion it is crucial to have a standard medium sized bleeding brush- the great example is MAC 217 brush. Either you are going for the bold eyeshadows or just everyday wash of color, blending some nude color onto your crease will make everything look put together.

Spoolie & Brow Brush:
The principle task of those brushes is to assist in the brushing your brows and helping them to look tidy. They also can help un-clump your lashes if the mascara is very clumpy.

If I could give one piece of advice, it would be that everyone using makeup needs a good brush that works for her/him. You'd be amazed by the difference it makes. You can even use sponges (or beauty blenders, if you will), which I (Fatya) discovered not long ago and swear by in blending some concealer on a bare face. Moreover, brushes give a neat look and will probably prevent your face from looking cakey. Oh, and don't forget to wash them every 3-4 weeks at least.

And once again, no amount of makeup can fix a sad face. So, wear a genuine smile.
